Celtics BBQ Suns Without Tatum’s Special Sauce…
No Jayson Tatum? No problem! The Boston Celtics showed they could cook up a storm without their superstar on Wednesday night, as they roasted the Phoenix Suns, 132-102. Even with Kevin Durant channeling his inner superhero and dropping 30 points, the Celtics navigated a smooth highway victory against their Western counterparts.
Imagine being on the verge of playing, sprained ankle be damned! But alas, Tatum sat this one out, letting his pals Jaylen Brown and Kristaps Porzingis take the culinary spotlight. Brown sizzled with 24 points while Porzingis flambéed the Suns with 30 points off some high-octane shooting.
The Suns were not exactly rising. Devin Booker had a lukewarm performance with 14 points. The first quarter was less basketball, more three-point shooting party, as the Celtics drained 10 deep threes. Durant gave his best pre-vacation performance with a striking 16 points, but that wasn’t enough. By the end of the first half, Boston had a delectable lead of 73-54.
The Celtics decided the third quarter was a great time for a fashion show of threes, extending their lead past the 30-point runway mark. Phoenix seemed to forget the memo on shooting accuracy, making just 9 three-pointers out of 32! Long story short, the Celtics won their 30th road game, and the Suns left with suntan-level burns. Up next, the Celtics hit the road to face the Spurs. May the hoops be ever in their favor!
