Boston Celtics star empowers youth with chess…
Jaylen Brown’s journey through the world of chess began face-to-face with the legendary Lawyer Times, a postal worker with more chess expertise than a pigeon playing tic-tac-toe. These two visionary minds connected over a shared dream of supporting underserved youth via the Future Master Chess Academy. Nearly a decade later, their alliance has grown stronger than a superhero on spinach, thanks to Brown’s investment, turning Times’ passion project into a reality.
Brown, an NBA star and now a chess patron, launched the Boston XChange, an incubator that could probably hatch golden eggs. This incubator supported Times’ academy, leading to a sea of playful pawns flooding Massachusetts. Thanks to Brown’s contributions, the academy received mentorship from prestigious universities like Harvard and MIT. Lawyer Times eagerly shared that these funds are creating young chess prodigies, who just might one day teach rookies a whole new meaning to their title.
